Which CMS to use?

WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal are the 3 most popular Content Management Systems currently used. They are each free, open-source software platform with wide libraries of plugins and modules to add additional functionality to a website. The software is free to download, use, and modify as you like.

WordPress

WordPress is the #1 most popular CMS platform today and powers nearly 30% of all websites. Web Developers of course will have their favourites but WordPress is often considered to be simple and easy to use for those setting up their own websites or small business wanting to manage their own sites.

Joomla

Joomla is the second most popular content management system used by approx. 7% of the CMS based websites. Configuring Joomla can be more confusing for beginners as it takes some time to understand the interface. Once you've learnt how to navigate your way through the menu structure, it becomes easy. Joomla platform lies somewhere between WordPress and Drupal with regards to user-friendliness and customisability.

Drupal

The oldest CMS among the compared three platforms stated, Drupal is the third most popular CMS platform in use. Drupal is widely known for its massive flexibility but it can be hard to learn how to use it. It requires more technical experience than WordPress and Joomla, but it is capable of producing more advanced sites. If you have limited knowledge of website development then either WordPress or Joomla would be more suitable to use.

Each of WordPress, Joomla and Drupal platforms can create educational websites, eCommerce sites, business sites, etc. Drupal is the perfect choice for developers with higher custom design needs. WordPress is perfect for users who want both ease of use and flexibility. And Joomla is a great choice for those who want a quick pick from the selection of templates and need a simple framework.
